Let’s Rodeo!!!! ‐‐ We heard the words May 2nd and 3rd of this year. Our voices rang out at the A. C. Dysart Equestrian Center in Banning and we filled the Holiday Inn Palm Springs to capacity. The Bud Light Hot Rodeo 2009 was a tremendous success thanks to our volunteers, spectators, sponsors, vendors, contestants, members and the entire community. The clouds parted and the sun shined, yes we some wind issues but it kept the temperatures in check. The Friday Pony Express Pool Party had the pool deck packed thanks to Miss Winnie Baygo and Ophelia plus a host of other past and present Royalty. The Saturday night dance topped even our best expectations, and we put the HOT in Hot Rodeo as the cowboys and cowgirls tore up the dance floor. The overflow room gave us all a chance to sit down and catch up with friends old and new. The Rodeo was the highlight of the weekend and both days saw the “thrill of victory and agony of defeat”. To the contestants, thanks for making the days fun and action filled. The Camp Events lived up to their name, while the rough stock and speed events entertained all. To the spectators you made competing fun. Your ohhs and awws and thunderous cheers made us contestants try that much harder. Our sponsors, you are the best!!! You make this fun with your financial support. Our vendors deserve a big thank you too, for withstanding wind gusts with displays falling over you never gave up and stayed until the very end both days. Our volunteers made sure we could do all the things we needed to do. Your tireless work and devotion to manning the entrance gate to working the chutes to picking up the trash does not go unnoticed. You all deserve a big round of applause and an even bigger THANK YOU. To the members and our community, thank you in believing in Rodeo. As we keep the dream alive each day of each year for those who fought for Gay Rodeo over twenty five years ago. Thank you all for your support throughout the year and Rodeo Week End. We look forward to seeing you all again next year as we begin work on the Hot Rodeo 2010 edition, beginning on April 30th next year with the Rodeo events scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2010.
