On January 30, 2000, a meeting held in Rancho Mirage. The purpose was to
establish a new Chapter of the G.S.G.R.A. in the Palm Springs desert. The meeting called to order by interim President Barry Hamm and lasted 2-1/2 hours. The founding Charter members included Judy Galloway, Rosie Sierra, J.G. Avila, Lorry King, John Matthews, Frank Delgado, Doug Beck and Barry Hamm. At the meeting, updates were given on paid memberships and transfers into to the newly established chapter.
Judy Galloway named the Chapter “Greater Palm Springs Rodeo Chapter”. J.G. Avila began work on a new logo (a different logo is in use today) and Barry began research into the geographical boundaries of this new chapter. Within months, memberships increased, meetings held and the future planned.
The Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association welcomes you to come and share in our community and heritage. The Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the 'Golden State Gay Rodeo Association' - a member of the 'International Gay Rodeo Association' is registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt corporation.
